Remember: It’s Not Just COVID Jabs

If you have symptoms of a respiratory virus like a cold, flu or RSV, such as a runny nose, cough, fever or sore throat, the best thing to do is to just stay home. Or, at the least, wear a mask to avoid spreading whatever it is that you have, according to Dr. James McDonald, New York state’s health commissioner.

The current COVID strain going around, JN.1, is structurally similar to other recent strains and the latest COVID vaccine should still work well in providing protection against the variant, the CDC added.

In the meantime, people may want to consider ordering free COVID tests straight from the CDC, from the government or by filling out an order form online. The tests may say they’re expired when you get them, but they still may be usable.

The CDC has approved the COVID tests and shots for all persons living in the U.S. You can check the FDA’s website here for a list of extended expiration dates here.
