The racist Tucker text message “contributed to a chain of events that ultimately led to Mr. Carlson’s firing”

Welcome to the walking brain dead; I crack open their melons to reveal what’s there

First of all, understand what happened in the Dominion lawsuit against FOX.

During deposition, a trove of emails and texts among FOX staffers was unveiled. Supposedly, these communications showed how the staffers really felt about the results of the 2020 Presidential election.

The messages showed the staffers—including Carlson—thought Biden won, and Trump was an idiot for claiming the vote was rigged.

But on air, FOX talking heads—including Carlson—supported Trump’s view and at least implied that Dominion voting machines were involved in the rigging.

Thus, FOX was intentionally lying on air.

But this is a completely spurious argument.

People write and voice opinions IN PRIVATE all the time. Private isn’t public.

What FOX staff state on the air stands as their public and official opinion—regardless of what they say in private.

Suppose everything you’ve ever written or said in private was accessed to prove WHAT YOU REALLY THINK AND STAND FOR, in a lawsuit against you?

Regardless of everything you’ve done and said publicly.

Do you think that would be fair?

Erasing the line between private and public is a strategy. It’s used to defame and destroy.

Most people no longer grasp the distinction between public and private. They opt for the Thought Police.

So now we come to the suddenly infamous PRIVATE text message sent by Tucker Carlson, about which Drudge shouts in a bold red headline at the top of his page:

RACIST RANT ALARMED FOX EXECS.

No mention, of course, that Carlson’s text was private and, therefore, might or might not represent his considered opinion. That distinction is completely off the table. We’re in GOTCHA world.

Here is coverage of the story, from Mediaite, and then I’ll comment on the content of Tucker’s text message. I don’t have to, because it was private, but I will, since the hounds of the press are interpreting that content to suit themselves, in the service of trying to bury Tucker.

Mediaite (May 2, 2023):

A text sent by former Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Jan. 7, 2021 that was later included in discovery as part of Dominion Voting Systems’ defamation lawsuit against the company “set off a panic” at Fox, the New York Times reported Tuesday night.

“The discovery of the message contributed to a chain of events that ultimately led to Mr. Carlson’s firing,” the Times stated. “In the message, sent to one of his producers in the hours after violent Trump supporters stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, Mr. Carlson described how he had recently watched a video of a group of men—Trump supporters, he said—violently attacking an ‘Antifa kid’.”

Here is the text message, which Carlson sent to one of his producers. In it, Carlson admitted to having a brief desire to see a group of Donald Trump supporters kill a person, stating, “It’s not how white men fight”:

[Carlson] A couple of weeks ago, I was watching video of people fighting on the street in Washington. A group of Trump guys surrounded an Antifa kid and started pounding the living shit out of him. It was three against one, at least. Jumping a guy like that is dishonorable obviously. It’s not how white men fight. Yet suddenly I found myself rooting for the mob against the man, hoping they’d hit him harder, kill him. I really wanted them to hurt the kid. I could taste it. Then somewhere deep in my brain, an alarm went off: this isn’t good for me. I’m becoming something I don’t want to be. The Antifa creep is a human being. Much as I despise what he says and does, much as I’m sure I’d hate him personally if I knew him, I shouldn’t gloat over his suffering. I should be bothered by it. I should remember that somewhere somebody probably loves this kid, and would be crushed if he was killed. If I don’t care about those things, if I reduce people to their politics, how am I better than he is?

OK. First of all, Tucker’s text wasn’t a “rant,” as Drudge labeled it.

Tucker described his first reaction, then described his second reaction.

The key sentence, of course, for the press hounds is, “It’s not how white men fight.”

Somehow, this is supposed to be racist. It’s not.
