The Hill’s ‘Debunking’ of ‘Misinformation’ Is a Backhanded Insult Against Certain Groups

New data from a poll conducted in early 2023 found that one-third of adults believe the COVID shot is responsible for sudden deaths in healthy individuals; they also believe that ivermectin is an effective treatment for the disease.

In the same poll, a quarter of the participants said other vaccines, including the COVID jab, cause infertility. Curiously, The Hill focuses on “debunking” these ideas without acknowledging that there are a range of studies supporting the public’s thinking. Instead, to support their “debunking,” they resurrect a 25-year-old case study they say is fraudulent even though the “study” was only a report, not a study.

They go even further down the rabbit hole by adding school shootings and gun violence to their efforts to prove the public is trusting “misinformation” and “disproven” claims — as defined by public organizations with the most to lose if the claims aren’t misinformation after all.

The final slam comes in the form of a backhanded insult saying, “certain groups were more susceptible to misinformation than others, including those with lower levels of educational attainment, those who identify as Republican as well as Black and Hispanic adults.”
