A judge in a high court in England has ruled that a doctor suspended for posting his views about vaccines and masking on social media was wrongly deprived of his right to free speech.
After Dr. Samuel White posted videos on Instagram and Twitter expressing his views, a medical board tribunal restricted White’s license to practice medicine, saying he hadn’t properly informed the “possibly uninformed audience” about COVID.
White sued, and a judge ruled that the restriction on his registration was “effectively a ban” and a “severe imposition on his freedom of expression, and that was “an error of law and a clear misdirection” in the tribunal’s duties.
Therefore, the tribunal’s rulings were “clearly wrong and cannot stand,” the judge wrote.
