A Japanese study has uncovered a new way to administer the COVID vaccine, and used monkeys as their test subjects.

Researchers found that an “under the tongue” administration of the vaccine could be more effective after seeing results from a test they ran on the monkeys. This test was influenced by one of UCLA’s animal-based COVID vaccine studies. The university claims that they developed a vaccine that prevented severe illnesses in hamsters.

Side effects of the administration of a vaccination in a similar form (nose spray) include, “headaches and fever, on the central nervous system or lungs,” as reported by Jake Levinson from Sky News. The side effects per receiving the vaccination orally are still unknown.
