How “Love” is used by Political Candidates during Political Campaign Season

“Everybody get together, try to love one another right now.”

When I first heard this Youngbloods tune in 1967, I felt a hernia and a headache coming on.

From the strain. Of trying to manufacture love and spread it around.

There are people who believe the opening line of the Constitution, “We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union,” is a statement about collective unity and love.

Along a similar path, there are politicians who, especially during campaign seasons, sell the idea that America stands for Unification around Unity.

Meaning: Let’s all get together and agree to agree.

About what?

Unity.

For what purpose?

For living according to the tenets and rules laid down by those who decide for us.

And what are those people deciding?

That we have to support Equity.

What is Equity?

Guaranteed outcome for those who have been oppressed and marginalized, and are underserved.

Guaranteed?

Yes. The underserved are rewarded as if they’ve achieved as much as the non-underserved. Even though they haven’t.

And this will form a more perfect Union?

Yes. The over-served, who created the underserved and continue to maintain them in a state of victimhood, can, through Equity, expiate their own guilt…

And finally arrive at…

Love.

Something like that. It’s a rough draft. I need to polish it before I present it to the New Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia.

Which let us not forget, was founded as “the City of Brotherly Love”—discounting the present-day shootings and burgeoning street crime.
