Political satirist CJ Hopkins is under a criminal investigation after tweeting an image that’s on the cover of his new book, “The Rise of the New Normal Reich.”

The offensive cover is a photo of a medical mask with red text for the title. The shadow of a barely visible swastika is on the mask. The book is a compilation of essays he wrote from 2020 to 2021. “As you might recall, the book was banned in Germany, Austria and The Netherlands in August 2022, (i.e., the time of my alleged Twitter crimes),” Hopkins writes in his Substack.

Of his crime, he says, “I am charged with ‘disseminating propaganda, the contents of which are intended to further the aims of a former National Socialist organization,’ which is punishable by “imprisonment for not more than three years or a fine.”

The book is NOT propaganda, he continues, and “obviously, the cover … is not ‘propaganda intended to further the aims of a former National Socialist organization.’ Anyone vaguely familiar with my work over the last 30 years is aware of my fierce opposition to fascism, totalitarianism, and all other forms of authoritarianism.

The book is a Barnes & Noble and Amazon best seller. And Hopkins is angry. Is the trumped-up investigation a move to get him to stop speaking out or just retaliation for the opinions he expresses in his essays? ‘Whatever the actual reason is … I’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, I need to go hire a lawyer.”
