“Eris” is the new kid on the block for the latest COVID-29 variant, and the CDC is already reporting increases in COVID hospitalizations and detections of SARS-CoV-2 in monitored sewage wastewater.

Estimating that 17.3% of current COVID cases are due to Eris, the CDC is “cautiously” announcing that Eris, “is worth paying attention to.”

While the symptoms for Eris infection aren’t much different from the other strains, they warn that “it’s possibly more contagious than other strains.” The good news is it isn’t resulting in more cases or deaths than other strains, the WHO says.
