450,000 Red Meat Allergies Due to Tick-Borne Disease

In their never-ending assault on humans’ autoimmune susceptibilities, ticks are now being attributed to having triggered as many as 450,000 allergic reactions to red meat.

The data show the affliction, alpha-gal syndrome, has been growing in the U.S. since at least 2010, after being reported for the first time in Virginia in 2008.

The disease is identified through blood tests; according to the CDC, most cases are in southern and eastern states and are linked to the lone star tick.
