Your Bones Are Aging Faster Than You Think, Doctors Warn

Osteoporosis isn’t just a concern for women — millions of men are affected too. Yet only 1% of men say they’re worried about their bone health, even though 2 million already have osteoporosis and another 16 million have early bone loss. Doctors say awareness is key to preventing serious fractures and long-term health problems.

The best time to protect your bones is in your 30s and 40s. Weight-bearing exercises like walking, lifting weights, or yoga can strengthen bones. Experts also recommend avoiding smoking, limiting alcohol, and talking to your doctor about testosterone levels, which play a role in bone health. A simple DEXA scan can help check bone density early.

If problems  show up later, treatments like kyphoplasty or vertebroplasty can help reduce pain and improve movement after fractures. Staying active now can lead to fewer injuries and more independence as you age. Taking steps today can make a big difference in long-term bone health.
