A new study says a simple sit-down and stand-up test might help predict how long you’ll live. Researchers in Brazil followed over 4,200 people, ages 46 to 75, for 12 years. Most people who did the test perfectly were still alive at the end. But only about half of those with the lowest scores were. Even people with heart problems were more likely to die early if they had poor scores on the test.
Doctors say this kind of test can help start important conversations about aging. If someone struggles with it, it could mean they need to work on their balance or strength. The good news? With regular movement and training, people can improve their results — and their health.
