Only a week after Dr. Anthony Fauci, face of the national COVID-19 team, announced that there is an urgent need for a universal vaccine against SARS-CoV-2, its variants and all other coronaviruses, the U.S. Department of Defense says it’s close to announcing it has one.
Animal trials for the vaccine were conducted with positive results, the Army says, although it still has phases 2 and 3 in its human trials to undergo. The government is partnering on the venture with an industry partner they decline to name at this time.
