Thousands of NÜTRL Tumblers Recalled After Dozens Report Illness

An urgent recall has been issued for about 33,000 NÜTRL-branded tumblers distributed in Canada between April 29 and May 17, 2024. These tumblers, given as promotional gifts with NÜTRL seltzer purchases, may release harmful contaminants, including sulfuric and phosphoric acids, when the tumbler is filled with liquid.

The notice warns that these contaminants can result in elevated levels of iron, chromium, and nickel, leading to health effects such as burning sensations in the mouth and throat, stomach cramps, nausea, severe tissue damage, and skin reactions like blistering, burns.

As of May 23, Sunscope, the tumbler manufacturer, confirmed 43 reports of symptoms including headaches, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
